Google has filed a challenge with the French Council of State regarding the 100 million euro fine the country's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, administered over alleged cookie violations, EURACTIV.com reports. During a hearing on the challenge, Google contested the CNIL's enforcement authority via the one-stop shop mechanism under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, while the DPA argued Google falls under French law as cookie policy is covered under the ePrivacy Directive.
