Registration and payment
Training expenses, including your registration fee, travel, lodging and meals, may be tax deductible if they are for maintaining or improving your professional skills. Consult your tax advisor. The IAPP federal tax ID is 23-3048008.
The IAPP will continue to follow local and venue requirements for meeting safely, plus guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in regards to communicable diseases. If you are not feeling well before, or at any time during the conference, please consider the safety and well-being of other attendees and staff by staying home or in your hotel room until you are feeling better. Please contact us if you are unable to attend.
We are happy to help. If you need any special accommodations (e.g., if you are a person who is blind/visually or hearing impaired or use a wheelchair), please contact us to arrange assistance.
We are an informal group. While there is no official dress code, we suggest wearing comfortable shoes because you may be doing a lot of walking. The room temperatures may fluctuate, so dressing in layers is advised. No suits required.
No, you do not need to register for each general or breakout session. Sessions fill on a first-come, first-served basis. The most popular general and breakout sessions fill quickly, so get there early to secure your seat and have a backup in mind. Seats, however, are guaranteed for training or workshops and must be purchased separately.
Yes. Volunteering is a great way to network while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the conference. Choose from a number of fun, well-planned volunteer opportunities. While volunteers do not receive complimentary conference passes, they do receive our unyielding gratitude and respect. Please ensure you are registered for the conference before you apply. Email us to learn about opportunities.
Continuing education
Yes. If you are looking for CPE credits for your IAPP credential, this conference qualifies.
- Main conference: 12 CPEs.
- Workshops: 3 CPEs per half-day workshop | 6 CPEs per full-day workshop.
- IAPP training: 13 CPEs per class.
- Foundations of Privacy and Data Protection: 6.5 CPEs.
You do not need to do anything. Credits will automatically be applied to each designation you hold (if you hold multiple, credits will be applied to all) within two weeks of the conference. To earn CPE credits for IAPP training at this event, you must already be certified prior to the event. If your credits do not appear on your CPE summary within 30 days after the event, please contact us.
IAPP networking activities do not count toward CPEs.
Yes. Read our official CPE policy.
Mandatory continuing legal education is a requirement of many U.S. state bar associations and apply to attorneys and legal professionals licensed to practice law in jurisdictions within the U.S. As a professional courtesy to our attorneys in attendance, we will be requesting live, in-person accreditation for this event in many jurisdictions and up to 24 MCLE credits may be possible. It is up to the individual to obtain these credits by attending sessions and getting your badge scanned. To receive maximum credits, individuals must attend both training days, all general sessions, and eight non-concurrent breakout sessions. Please note that MCLE credits are not a guarantee and that a certain amount of MCLE credits should not be expected as each state approves MCLE credits differently.
Credit amounts per state will be updated on a rolling basis as approvals are granted. Please check back closer to Summit to review the number of credits we were approved up to, within your state.
Answers to common MCLE related questions can be found here.
To get MCLE credit:
- Throughout the conference: For each session you attend that you would like credit for, have your name badge scanned when you enter. MCLE credit eligibility is directly connected to an attendee having their name badge scanned. If your badge is not scanned, you will not be eligible for MCLE credits for that session. New Jersey and New York licensed attorneys will also need their badges scanned, by an IAPP staff member, when leaving each session.
- Post-conference: Action required for attorneys seeking MCLEs from the IAPP Summit 2026. All Summit attendees will receive a link to our online MCLE credit application form in the MCLE email that will be sent via email a month before Summit, the first day of Summit, and just after Summit ends. If you are seeking MCLEs from Summit 2026, you must complete the online credit application form, prior to the deadline of 17 April 2026. Once the credit application window has closed, IAPP will contact you with further information on reporting MCLE credits to your state of licensure. Most MCLE states allow attorneys to self-report their own credits. IAPP will defer to the attorney to report and pay for their own credits in states where it isoptional. IAPP is only responsible for reporting fees in states wherethe sponsor is required to report attendance and/or pay fees. If you have additional questions, please contact your state bar or the IAPP at: mcle@iapp.org.
Please note: If you are licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan and South Dakota you are not required to maintain CLE credits and therefore do not need to submit an online MCLE application. Be sure to check your state bar MCLE regulations as some jurisdictions do not accredit sponsor programs but require MCLEs, so attorneys will need to self-file.
IMPORTANT: Each state has its own MCLE rules and regulations, including its own definition of MCLE. As a result, certain IAPP programs may not receive credit in some states.
International attorneys attending U.S. events:
The IAPP can only offer pre-approved MCLE credits to U.S.-based lawyers. If you are an international attorney, please contact us at mcle@iapp.org and we would be happy to provide your badge scans from the conference, as well as our uniform certificate of attendance to fill out. However, we are unable to advise on how to self-apply for MCLEs within your country.
