How to earn MCLE credits by attending an IAPP conference

Scan your badge
Ensure your badge is scanned as you enter sessions at MCLE-eligible conferences. New York and New Jersey lawyers must also have their badges scanned when exiting.Â

Submit the MCLE form
Complete the form before the deadline for a timely response. You must complete a new form for each conference you attend.

The MCLE credit application form closed on 17 April. Please contact mcle@iapp.org if you missed the deadline and we will do our best to aid in credit reporting. Up to 24 credits are possible. See how many credits each state approved here. When you reach out, be sure to include the state(s) and bar number(s) of licensure, as well as if you were a speaker on any sessions.

Common MCLE questions
No. The IAPP cannot report credits or send documentation without a completed MCLE credit application form.Â
Yes. A new form must be completed for every MCLE-eligible conference.Â
No. The MCLE form only notifies IAPP that you would like MCLE credits from the conference. In states where the sponsor is required to report on the attorney's behalf, IAPP will do so. Those states include:Â

When filling out the MCLE form, include all states of licensure and each bar number. IAPP will either send you documentation or report on your behalf as required in accordance with each state’s regulations.
Please contact mcle@iapp.org and provide your state(s) of licensure and the title of the session that you missed a scan for. Some states do not allow credits to be given for sessions without badge scans as proof of attendance. IAPP will follow state bar guidelines.Â

We submit for accreditation for trainings and workshops. Trainings and workshops are typically approved by most states. Please follow scanning protocol at trainings and workshops to ensure eligibility.
The IAPP does not currently apply for accreditation internationally. However, you may e-mail mcle@iapp.org and we will provide any available documentation for you to self-apply for MCLE.Â

No. Networking hours are not accreditable. Hope you had fun, though.
Continuing professional education credits are IAPP-initiated credits and do not pertain to MCLE credits. CPE credits are applied to your IAPP designation and will appear in your MyIAPP account 14-30 days after the event. Please contact us with CPE questions.
