Build and Strengthen Your Company’s Privacy Functions
Thursday, 3 Dec.
16:15 - 17:15 AEDT
Intermediate level
It is well known that privacy professionals in Australia are busy at considering the impact of the privacy law reforms and preparing their respective enterprises to address these. They are doing this in the context of addressing many other challenges and opportunities: helping implement AI at pace, engaging with consumers or customers, working with multiple regulators, supporting compliance with data protection obligations, working closely with security and engineering functions to improve security and data protection, or automating or streamlining its own processes. The multifaceted nature of the role of the privacy function, and the variety of issues and stakeholders that it has the capacity to influence, puts it at the center of change. What will that change look like for the function itself and what do we need to do now to prepare the profession, our teams, and our respective enterprises?
What you will learn:
• Panelists will share some of the findings from the 2026 Australian research, explore how privacy functions are evolving, identify future capabilities, structures, and leadership models.
• Challenge assumptions about the role of privacy professionals to generate fruitful discussions about the profession's future.
• Gain insights into how companies and institutions can build and strengthen their privacy functions with research, analysis, real-world examples to back it up.
