In recognition of Pride month, the IAPP’s Managing Director, Washington, D.C., Cobun Zweifel-Keegan, CIPP/US, CIPM, had a discussion with three experts with experience at the intersection of data privacy and LGBTQIA rights. The conversation explored the key policy issues and legal implications of processing data that reveals sexual orientation and gender identity, and how to recognize the ways data-driven systems can reproduce and amplify bias and harm against gender and sexual minority communities. Building on operational experience, the panel also provided concrete guidance and best practices for privacy professionals and other stakeholders who handle SOGI data in their work.
