Trust, safety and security: Advancing smart cross-regulatory collaboration

In 2024, the IAPP coined the concept of "digital entropy" — the natural state of chaos that emerges when technology outpaces the frameworks designed to manage it. This entropy has intensified and evolved fragmentedly. With multiple global digital laws, policy and regulatory in effect, the role of data protection authorities, sector specific regulators and law enforcement authorities is vital. It requires smart collaboration.

Building on the GSMA Policy and Regulation team's engagement in the Global Privacy Assembly, the Mobile World Congress Barcelona and capacity building with DPAs and regulators, we will share the learnings on smart cross-regulatory collaboration. We will invite the IAPP leadership, a DPA and industry thought leaders to provide high-level perspectives on smart cross-regulatory collaboration examples ahead of the 48th GPA and the IAPP Europe Congress 2026 in Brussels.
