On 2 May 2025, Ireland's Data Protection Commission fined TikTok 530 million euros and ordered corrective measures following its inquiry into transfers of European Economic Area user data to China. The decision also included an order suspending TikTok's transfers to China if processing is not brought into compliance within six months.
