Zimbabwe began building a “cyber city” outside of its capital, Harare, Business Day reports. Named Zim Cyber City, the first ZWD500 million stage of development recently started with investment by Dubai-based Mulk International. Mulk estimated the entire project may require upward of a ZWD60 billion investment. The investors also said Zim Cyber City would feature “surveillance technology,” including possible use of “facial recognition” that would be directly connected to law enforcement.
