European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager said a replacement Privacy Shield agreement with the U.S. is “a high priority” but “not easy” due to differences over European privacy rights and U.S. surveillance, TechCrunch reports. The EU and U.S. need to find a way to work together in accordance with guidance from the Court of Justice of the European Union, she said, adding, “it is a priority for us in order to enable the business community to make the most of data but again to do that under safe and clear transparent conditions.”
