The Washington Post reports 41 U.S. states and the District of Columbia filed lawsuits against Meta alleging the company built addictive features into Instagram and Facebook that manipulate and harm minors. Thirty-three state attorneys general filed a joint suit with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California while attorneys general from eight states and D.C. filed separate suits. Meanwhile, The Record reports U.S. Federal Trade Commissioner Alvaro Bedoya discussed the agency's plan to hire child psychologists to help address social media harms.
