U.S. Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., and Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., introduced the Protecting Americans' Data from Foreign Adversaries Act, which proposes barring the sale of citizens' sensitive data by data brokers to foreign adversaries and entities they control. The bill would empower the Federal Trade Commission to issue fines in excess of USD50,000 for each violation of the law by a data broker. Editor's note: IAPP Staff Writer Alex LaCasse reported on the release of U.S. President Joe Biden's executive order on sensitive data transfers.
