U.S. prosecutors asked a federal judge to sentence former Uber Chief Information Security Officer Joe Sullivan to 15 months in prison after he obstructed an investigation into the company, BankInfoSecurity reports. In October 2022, Sullivan was convicted on charges of obstruction and misprision of a felony, "which refers to knowing something is a felony and covering it up." The charges stemmed from an hacking incident in 2017, where Sullivan oversaw the payment of USD100,000 in Bitcoin to two hackers under the guise of a "bug bounty" payment, but mislead the U.S. Federal Trade Commission about the payment.
