The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection is using an artificial-intelligence-powered tool that screens travelers, refugees and asylum seekers, as well as U.S. citizens, Vice reports. The tool can link individuals’ social media posts to their Social Security numbers and their location data, according to a CBP memo obtained by the publication. The tool, called Babel X, allows a user to input a piece of information about an individual, such as their name, and receive a trove of information about the person in return.
