In a report to the United Nations General Assembly, Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy Ana Brian Nougrères said digital technologies that process individuals’ personal data “in an invasive and large-scale manner” are not meeting their privacy expectations. The report outlines 10 guiding principles that encourage member states to “strike a balance between the different conflicting interests in the processing of personal data and the right to privacy in the global and digital era.”
