The Economist reports the United Nations Statistics Division created a Privacy-Enhancing Technologies Lab that will work toward addressing potential solutions for anonymizing datasets. Initial pilot programs used differential privacy methods to spot anomalies with an eye toward allowing different types of sensitive data to interact and creating cross-border collaborations among companies. The program's next step will be to take a dive into international trade data from multiple agencies.
