The U.K. Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is asking the technology industry for its views on enhancing security for mobile application store operators and app developers. A report from the National Cyber Security Centre detailed people’s data and money are at risk from fraudulent apps that contain malware developed by cybercriminals or apps that are poorly developed and can be breached by hackers. App stores, game consoles, TVs and other smart devices could be required to commit to new baseline privacy requirements.
