Researchers have created an online tool, Exposing.AI, that enables individuals to search for their photos among facial recognition data sets used to develop the technology, The New York Times reports. The tool, which does not itself use facial recognition, matches images from Flickr, and users need a Flickr username, tag or internet address to identify the photos. Exposing.AI creators Liz O’Sullivan and Adam Harvey say they hope the tool leads to new policies and laws to prevent mass collection of personal data.
