Instant messaging application Telegram shut down two channels for allegedly doxxing government and law enforcement officials in Hong Kong, South China Morning Post reports. The channels allegedly shared the personal information of some pro-establishment figures. Between Oct. 8, 2021 and April 30, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data issued 689 notices to 13 online platforms and requested the platforms remove more the 3,500 messages that contained doxxed information. The Hong Kong government has considered blocking Telegram altogether.
