Spectrum News NY1 reports Senate Bill S6071, the New York Privacy Act, is making its way through the New York Senate. The bill passed its second reading May 24, making it eligible to pass the Senate on its next and final reading. The bill currently includes a range of data subject rights and a private right of action. State Sen. Kevin Thomas, D-N.Y., the bill's sponsor, touted how the law allows users to correct information kept on them and set their own data retention preferences.
