South Africa's Information Regulator ruled Facebook is prohibited from sharing contact information it gathers from WhatsApp users in the country without permission from the agency, Reuters reports. The regulator said its decision is in accordance with Section 57 of the Protection of Personal Information Act, and it has informed Facebook South Africa about its concerns with the company's privacy notice. A WhatsApp spokesperson said the company is reviewing the regulator's decision.
