U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and John Thune, R-SD, sent a letter to TikTok discussing how they are "alarmed" by changes to TikTok's privacy notice that allow for biometric data collection, TechCrunch reports. While TikTok stated it will seek permission to collect faceprints and voiceprints, Klobuchar and Thune asked for detailed definitions of both types of data along with information regarding data retention practices. Earlier this month, Klobuchar joined on a separate letter to Amazon regarding its own plans for biometric data collection and use.
