Saskatchewan’s provincial government paused the request for proposals effort to develop a digital identification system, CBC reports. Officials said the Saskatchewan Service Connect would be halted to evaluate how similar initiatives proceed in other provinces. Under the program, a digital ID would not be compulsory, however, it was still in the early planning stages and officials were starting conversations with the provincial privacy commissioner’s office to raise all possible privacy issues.
