Research conducted by Queen’s University looked at Google’s attempt to shift away from third-party cookies with its "Federated Learning of Cohorts" initiative. The project involved developing a computer simulation to test three FLoC claims: users with similar browsing habits would be assigned the same cohort ID, user details could not be ascertained based on their cohort IDs and cohort IDs would protect user anonymity.
