U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration is examining ways to enhance privacy protections for “abortion-related health information,” Bloomberg Law reports. Last month, an executive order was issued calling on the Secretary of Health and Human Services to produce a report to explore ways to protect access to reproductive health. Data for Progress Senior Resident Fellow Matthew Cortland said HHS should look to further restrict the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act’s privacy rule that allows abortion providers to share reproductive health information with police.
