The Reserve Bank of India imposed restrictions against Mastercard Asia after the bank found it failed to comply with requirements of the Storage of Payment System Data. Under the restrictions, Mastercard will not be able to onboard new domestic customers starting 22 July. The Storage of Payment System Data requires providers to show all information they possess is stored within India every six months.
