Quebec's data protection authority, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, released guidelines regarding personal information collected during the rental agreement process. Information collected by landlords must be secured safely while complying with privacy laws. Landlords that collect "personal information must limit themselves to that which is necessary for the purpose of the file."
