Parents and policy analysts called on the Alberta government to remove its new teacher registry over personal privacy concerns, CBC News reports. The registry, which went live Sept. 1, aims to increase the transparency of teacher discipline and improve student safety. Particular issues have been raised around the registry's sensitive information disclosures related to individuals or their criminal histories. Support Our Students Alberta's Wing Li said the registry needs "to do a better job of keeping the files accurate" because it is "violating the privacy of lots of other teachers who are not problematic."
