During an appearance before Parliament, Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne recommended modernizing privacy laws so children are able to safely browse online without their privacy rights being infringed. Dufresne was invited to address the House of Commons Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics, which is working on a report examining the "Use of Social Media Platforms for Data Harvesting and Unethical or Illicit Sharing of Personal Information with Foreign Entities."
