Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics to testify regarding the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's use of spyware. Dufresne indicated his office "was not informed of or consulted on" RCMP's practices before or since they were deployed, and the OPC has yet to see the government-required privacy impact assessment. Dufresne also said RCMP will demonstrate its spyware use to the OPC later this month.
