The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada issued guidance to employers on the use of virtual staffing platforms. The regulator pointed to consideration of risks associated with collecting and managing personal information via virtual interviews and proper privacy training to those conducting or reviewing application materials containing personal data. The OPC also pointed to data minimization and retention compliance requirements under the Privacy Act.
