Under Ontario’s Working for Workers Act, employers with 25 or more employees must implement an electronic monitoring policy and disclose it to staff, CBC News reports. Ontario is the only Canadian province with employee monitoring legislation. It applies to staff using company-issued devices. Samfiru Tumarkin Associate Mackenzie Irwin said the legislation is a step toward transparency but needs more work as it does not offer employees new privacy rights or discourage employers.
