Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario Patricia Kosseim offered her take on the federally proposed Artificial Intelligence and Data Act included in Bill C-27's omnibus package. Kosseim noted the proposal wouldn't apply to Ontario's public sector or publicly-regulated businesses, leaving the province to "fill in the gaps and do what’s right by Ontarians." She outlined Ontario's prior efforts to act on AI and spoke on how important it is to "understand and democratically determine the outcomes for which our personal information and digitized public life are being optimized."
