The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Committee on Digital Economy Policy held a meeting last month to consider government access to personal data held by the public sector. Members from Australia, Canada, Japan, the U.K. and U.S. supported a set of principles giving "obliged access" for law enforcement to access data for investigations. The European Union wants to give the CDEP more time to "develop draft principles with a broader scope to cover all methods of government access." Meanwhile, Denmark's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, published guidance on data transfers to third countries.
