Privacy Commissioner of New Zealand Michael Webster submitted supporting comments to the Ministry of Justice's consultation on potential amendments to data collection notification provisions under the Privacy Act 2020. Webster wrote the proposed updates would "contribute to enhancing the privacy of individuals and assisting individuals to exercise their privacy rights" while also representing "policy objectives of increased transparency and individual agency." He also noted how updates would bring "greater comity with our overseas partners and support international trade."
