The Philippines’ National Privacy Commission launched the Philippine Privacy Trust Mark, an effort to enhance data privacy compliance and improve trust in cross-border data transfers. The launch includes the release of PPTM Certification Guidelines, which evaluates an organization’s compliance with the Data Privacy Act and provides support for cross-border data transfers. Privacy Commissioner Raymund Liboro urged personal information controllers and processors to aim for certification and said PPTM also helps consumers “to make informed choices and have greater control” of personal data.
