Following a data protection impact assessment of Facebook, Norway’s data protection authority, Datatilsynet, said it will not communicate through the social media platform. The DPA said parties processing personal data must comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which applies when that organization uses social media. But Facebook use would not sufficiently comply with Article 26. “We believe the risks to the users’ rights and freedoms associated with the processing of personal data through a Page on Facebook are too high,” Director-General of the DPA Bjørn Erik Thon said.
