The Internet Policy Research Initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology created a proposal for a Ransomware Readiness Index, measuring organizations’ and municipalities’ preparedness and progress in adopting ransomware security controls. “The RRI will provide an aggregate view of organizational security readiness and risk in the context of ransomware,” said graduate student Rebecca Spiewak, adding the data is anonymous. A data collection effort this fall will focus on municipalities, she said.
