The National Post reports Meta offered CAD51 million to settle privacy claims concerning alleged nonconsensual use of Canadians' personal information for advertising purposes. The lawsuit claims Meta collected and used names and email addresses for its "Sponsored Stories" ad campaign, which ran from 2011-2014. The class-action lawsuit claims cover individuals from British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland and Labrador.
