A U.S. District Court judge in New York ruled a proposed nationwide class-action lawsuit accusing car insurer GEICO of disclosing driver's license data to identity thieves can move forward, Reuters reports. The lawsuit claims GEICO auto-populated driver's license numbers into its database when users provided "basic" information to obtain insurance quotes. The data was then used to apply for fraudulent unemployment benefits under victims' names following a data breach.
