The New York Times reports on a previously undisclosed facial recognition program that is being used in Gaza. According to Israeli intelligence officers, military officials and soldiers, the system was originally deployed to identify Israeli hostages, but has been expanded to locate those with ties to Hamas and collect and catalogue the faces of Palestinians. "At times, the technology wrongly flagged civilians as wanted Hamas militants," the report stated.
