In anticipation of the forthcoming European Data Protection Board's decision on Meta's pay-or-consent model, IAB Europe issued a preliminary rebuttal to what the marketing association believes are misconceptions surrounding the model. Some of IAB's perceived misconceptions are that pay or consent does not condition data protection rights to paying for the ad-free service and that contextual advertising does not equate to an alternative finance source for online services.
