In an op-ed for The Atlantic, Columbia Law School Julius Silver Professor of Law, Science and Technology Tim Wu claimed U.S. lawmakers have failed to take any concrete action to protect children online in more than a decade. Wu, a former Biden White House official, said U.S. Congress has held 39 bipartisan hearings on social media's ill effects on children's mental health since 2017 without any legislative action to show for it.
