Hong Kong’s Privacy Commissioner Ada Chung said doxxing and cyberfraud have become “rampant” in the province, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s business magazine reports. Chung said with 85% of Hong Kong residents using social media and sharing personal information online that includes dates of birth, residential addresses and health information; the individual privacy risks are numerous. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data reported there have been more than 5,800 doxxing cases in Hong Kong between June 2019 and June 2021.
