Ten members of European Parliament called on the European Commission to issue a moratorium on online tracking of internet users, Euractiv reports. The MEPs' request came on the heels of a ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union, which banned Meta's practice of targeting its users with behavioral advertisements without consent. The CJEU decision paved the way for Norway's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, to issue a three-month ban on Meta's surveillance-based advertising, as well as a NOK1 million per day fine for noncompliance.
