According to Financial Times, Google announced intentions to expand privacy protections that limit ad tracking on Android mobile devices. Google told Play Store application developers its tracking crackdown, which will come into effect later this year, aims to "provide users with more control over their data, and help bolster security and privacy." Cybersecurity researcher Jackie Singh said the move is "positive for user privacy," but the first-party data shift may "create significant risks." The program is a perceived response to Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
