The Hamburg, Germany Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information recently notified Google its consent banners on the Google search engine do not meet data protection requirements. The HmbBfDI also noted YouTube did not meet the data protection requirements either. Users reportedly could click the “I agree” button to consent to all processing of personal data for Google. However, users who did not want to give such consent had to refuse the settings for each data processing setting individually through the “Customize” page.
