The state representative to a German state data protection authority, the Baden-Württemberg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, received 40 complaints about the use of Microsoft 365 in schools and potential data protection issues. The state representative asked the schools to demonstrate their software was in compliance with data protection regulations and 31 schools reported having changed or will change their software by the end of the first half of the current school year. The LfDI recommended schools discontinue the use of Microsoft 365.
German state DPA will not take action against schools for using Microsoft software
