Italy’s data protection authority, the Garante, is investigating an application that reproduces false, realistic voices of well-known individuals. The Garante has asked “The Storyteller Company — Fakeyou” to provide information on how its technology works, what personal information is processed and the purposes for data processing. The company must also provide the location of any data centers that maintain personal data. The authority said its concerns “are directed towards the potential risks that could arise from improper use of personal data, such as the voice."
