A bill under consideration by the New York City Council to require online food delivery platforms to share data with establishments is raising objections from the platforms and privacy activists, the New York Amsterdam News reports. Under the proposal, customers’ names, phone numbers, email and delivery addresses would be shared with businesses using the platforms. Customers would be made aware and could opt out. Opponents have said this is a violation of data privacy, and are questioning how data will be protected and what happens in the event of a breach.
