U.S. Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel issued a letter to the country's top 15 mobile providers inquiring about their data retention policies and privacy notices. Rosenworcel’s questions centered around the safeguards of geolocation data and their retention. She also asked about the carriers’ processes for sharing customer geolocation data with law enforcement and other third parties. The providers must respond by Aug. 3.
